Southern African Rurality in Higher Education
How do we attempt this?
•
Practice based approach - “practices, both as an
enactment of and a medium for learning, has been argued
to weave knowing together with action, conversation and
affect in purposeful and regularised orderings of human
activity” (Fenwick and Nerland, 2014, pp.3).
•
The material - how assemblages of the various material
play themselves out in the formative years of youth who
were schooled in deep rural areas (Fenwick and Nerland,
2014).
•
A non-deficit approach - the richness and creativity of
children from the non-mainstream contexts (Polela (2011).
