Student choice making
• In the first stage of problem recognition, students realise they
are in a position requires them to make a higher education
choice (Vrontis et al., 2007).
• In the second phase, students are assumed to be gathering
information on aspects deemed relevant for making the higher
education decision (Vrontis et al., 2007).
• This information is used in the third phase of decision-making
in which available alternatives are evaluated based on
attributes of the options at hand (ibid).
• The final choice is made as a result of this evaluation and
implemented by applying to the chosen university and a
qualification program.
