FAQs

When will the 6th Annual SANRC FYE Conference take place?

The conference will take place 19 - 21 May 2021; from approximately 09:00 am - 5:00 pm each day. Hours may be adjusted slightly based on the precise form of the programme. We will send a draft conference schedule.

What do I need to attend the virtual conference?

To attend the virtual conference, you need a stable internet connection, your device or computer, and a valid conference registration. We recommend that you check South Africa’s load-shedding schedule just to ensure that you will have an uninterrupted internet connection. Once you are registered, you are all set. You will receive login details a few days prior to the conference.

I am not familiar with Zoom. What shall I do?

We suggest that you familiarise yourself with the Zoom software before the conference. From our side, we will make the online conference experience as simple as possible for you. There will be technical assistance at the conference, as well as a host at each individual session who will attend to any problems or issues.

Will I need to register to participate in the virtual conference?

Yes. Whether you are presenting or attending, you will need to register to participate. Registration to the virtual conference is open. For more information, please visit the registration page.

By when do I need to register in order to participate in the conference?

We ask that you kindly register as soon as possible. This is especially important for presenters who are featuring on the programme. We will be accepting registrations from presenters up to the date of 09 April 2021.

Should you simply wish to attend only as a delegate, we will accept your registrations up until 12 May 2021.

What are the registration fees?

The registration fees for the 6th Annual SANRC Conference have been adjusted for the purpose of the online conference. See below:
Full Conference Registration: R 3 300.00
Registration for NGOs and registered full-time students: R 3000.00

I am a registered presenter/speaker at the event, what should I do?

You will receive login details from us. Please do not share these login details, as they are intended only for you. Once you log in, there will be a host at your session who will ‘troubleshoot’ for you, e.g. check audio, convey messages etc. The online conference set-up is simple, and we offer basic advice and guidance to help make your session as rewarding as possible.

Will paper presentations be live or pre-recorded?

We prefer for paper presentations to be live. The reason for this is that we have no control over the quality of the recordings that are sent to us. However, in the event that you do want to submit recorded presentations, you will need to kindly remember the following three golden rules: 1) you must meet the deadline of 09 May 2021 to submit recorded presentations to us; 2) you will have to present yourself live for the Q&A part of your presentation; and 3) you should follow the instructions for a high-quality recording that we will be sending you.

Will I be able to network and meet other virtual attendees?

Yes. There will be a networking room offered throughout the conference exactly for this purpose.

How can I ask questions at the virtual conference?

You will be able to utilize the Chat and Q&A functions on Zoom.
